Meeting the Needs of English Language Learners
                                                                                Introduction

         The purpose and objective for this website is to help understand the need to educate the fast growing ELL population with the best research-based programs and practices to help meet their educational needs in the classroom and prepare them to be successful in school and society. In addition, you will understand the purpose and history of bilingual education, learn what the cognitive theories say about second language learning for ELLs, comprehend the process of language acquisition for first and second language, and recognize the most effective bilingual education programs research supports help ELLs reach biliteracy, bilingualism and biculturalism.  
    Our collaborative efforts are to educate the novice and experienced bilingual teachers, administrators, future teachers on the history of bilingual education and understand the positive theories and research that support the importance of educating students in effective bilingual programs to help them reach biliteracy.
